On December 6, 2024, Russellville Middle School unveiled "The Huddle," a state-of-the-art Library Media Center designed as a hub for leadership, learning, and innovation. Funded by a $250,000 grant from Ed Farm, a Birmingham-based nonprofit, this cutting-edge space transforms the traditional library into a modern innovation center.

Huddle Classes:

The Huddle is now the home of a new elective course: Introduction to Innovations. The Introduction to Innovations class, taught in collaboration with Ed Farm, provides students with hands-on experience using the cutting-edge technology available in the Huddle. Each semester, students engage in challenge-based learning sprints, applying their skills to real-world projects. Last fall, students developed an app for Russellville Main Street and traveled to Birmingham to compete against other schools.

This semester, students are focusing on podcasting, aiming to create engaging content that reaches the widest audience. Their podcasts will not only be part of a school competition but will also be submitted to the NPR Student Podcast Challenge, a national competition sponsored by NPR. In March, they will return to Birmingham to showcase their work, continuing to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
